The Final... *tear*

1. One memorable story that I have done this quarter is my “Yellow Submarine” scary story. This short story not only caused me to be scared while writing it but every other person that read it. This was really the first time that I actually scared myself with something I had written. Another memorable story I have written this semester is my airplane story, “Leo.” This story was inspired by a newspaper clipping for the horoscope Leo as well as my close friend Shay. It was a memorable story because it has a deeper meaning to me and Shay. During the scary story unit members of my group made comments on each other’s posts. I enjoyed reading and commenting on other people’s posts. Carissa and I had some very interesting conversations on other people’s posts. The last memorable thing I wrote in this class was a variety of six word memoirs. I enjoyed summing up my whole life story in just six words. It has become sort of a game with me and my friends to see who can get the best six word memoirs.

2. Reading the stories about those pictures with unfinished stories was really interesting to me. I enjoyed seeing how many different ways people can be inspired from one picture. One picture could inspire a story about aliens, a story about magic, or simply a story about a chair. This was quite remarkable to me. Also reading other people’s scary stories was very intriguing. Seeing how they were able to take the prompt and form it into a scary story was also very interesting.

3. The blog was by far the most fun I’ve ever had in any class ever. Setting it up and posting on it was such a wonderful experience. Posting on it hardly felt like class work. The name for my blog just sort of came upon me. I wanted it to be creative and lighthearted, which I feel I have accomplished. It still needed to be attention grabbing and kind of epic. I feel that my title has accomplished all of those purposes and with over 1,000 page views I must have done something right. I may continue to use it on my own in my future because I enjoyed it so much. Feel free to check back at least once a month to see some funny cat gifs. I might write about weird things, funny things, or simply whatever comes to my mind (so basically weird funny things).

4. My journal is mostly filled with silly thoughts and observations. I have a sarcastic and funny outlook on life and that comes across a lot in most of my writing. From writing simple kids stories, scary stories, and fun poems all of it is basically funny and sarcastic. I do not think I will continue to journal because I prefer typing over writing. If I journal it would be on the computer in the form of a blog or something. I don’t really care who reads my journal because it is just a bunch of sarcastic or funny stories. None of it is overly personal.

5. One journal entry I haven’t put on my blog is one of the other picture stories called “The House on Maple Street.”

It was the perfect lift off. Everything went according to planned. Davis had been planning this for ages! Blast off! Finally! His house was a rocket! He soared through space and encountered many strange creatures there. Aliens, monsters, alien monsters all bowed to Davis as he adventured. Leading a space exhibition with the help of General Richard the lizard was no easy job. Thankfully, General Richard could use his acid spit to vaporize bad guys. Davis and General Richard were unstoppable, and together they formed the empire of the universe.

Well, until dinner. “Time for dinner!” Davis’ mom called. Davis quickly set General Richard back in the box and headed into the kitchen for dinner, thinking about all the adventures he  would have after he ate his mac and cheese.

6. AN EXCERPT FROM THE CREEPY YELLOW SUBMARINE STORY:

Once I am sure he is asleep. I quietly and cautiously slip out of my room. I go down the dark hallway and make an immediate left.

And there it is. The small circular door that leads to what I presume to my way out. I slip the key in, careful not to jingle it and wake up Daddy.

I open the door. It’s dark. There has to be a light switch in here somewhere. I find the lights and turn it on.

This was not the way out. I shouldn’t have come here.

There are bodies. Female bodies. They are at various stages of decomposing. Some, have obviously been here for a very long time. They all look to be about my age.

“Oh, my flower,” I hear his voice from behind me. “I thought we had a deal.”

I slowly turn to see the hideous face of the only other passenger aboard the ship.

“I’m sorry,” I quickly apologize. I know I need to get back into his good graces. I can’t end up like these girls. I look at their hideously twisted bodies. Dried blood mats their hair. Their skin is so decomposed they hardly look human anymore. “What did you do to them?” I ask.

“They, like you, did the one thing I told them not to do. And they, like you, had to die for their crimes.”
The next seconds flash by in an instant. Daddy pulls out a knife, swinging at my neck.

“I’m sorry, my flower,” he says, pushing me onto the ground. I’m trashing for my life. He has already cut off a chunk of my hair. I bite his wrist when he pushes me. The look in his eyes is monstrous. He is set to kill me, and if I want to live, I have to kill him first.

I’m bleeding. There’s blood everywhere. It’s dripping into my mouth. I try to spit out the warm salty taste but I’m being choked. I’m going to die.

And then by some miracle of God the knife is in my hands. It only stays in my hands for a short moment before I plunge it into his stomach.

“My flower...” his voice fades away as the life drains from his eyes.

And then I’m all alone on this yellow submarine at the bottom of the ocean. I don’t know how to drive this or maneuver it through the ocean, but that is the least of my worries. I’m alive; I’m not quite sure how, but I’m going to get home.

I make my way through the dark hallways, eerie with emptiness, and to the control room. As I stand behind the wheel, I see a small piece of paper taped to the steering wheel. I read what it says.

As we live our life of ease

Everyone of us has all we need

Skies of blue and seas of green

In our yellow submarine

Under it is a picture of me smiling.

7. I plan to continue writing creatively in the future. I enjoy writing fictional stories as an outlet for my creativity. Creative writing is how I express my creativity and come up with new ideas. I love creative writing because there are no rules. Anything can happen if you make it happen. In research writing or other writing I do for school everything must be factual and in a certain format but creative writing is better for my free spirit to fly away with all of my creativity.

8. Shay – Keep writing! I know you will do excellent at Drury even if I don’t go there to read all of your papers! Thank you for all of these memories we have made in all of our English classes together!

Desiree – Get ready for something hilariously sentimental…. Who am I kidding. What. Thank you for the continuous laughs we’ve had in band and creative writing. Even if you say you can’t write we all know you can with the right inspiration. “Moo.”

Carissa – I feel as though I have gotten to know you much better through this class. But I will not waste your time. MAKE WAY FOR THE QUEEN.

Naomi – Although I tried to scare you off on the first day of class you still managed to hang around and get to know my weird personality! I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks for enlightening Teyondra and I about who the hottest members of One Direction are. It’s been a blast! Stay happy!

Teyondra – I suppose I saved the best for last, right? You are the only other normal person at our table and I thank you for that. Sometimes, Shay and Naomi get a little bit wild and you are always there to help them tone it down. Thank you!

Goodbye!!!

Blue Dress Writing

The gift was not what I expected...

This past Christmas, I knew almost all of my presents ahead of time... or so I thought there was. There was one box that had my name on it that I wasn't sure what it was. It was a rather large box, so obviously I was excited. I tear off the wrapping paper and see a tooth brush. yes, an electronic tooth brush. I t sure wasn't what I'd expected but at least I'll have white teeth now, I suppose...

Intentions

This year I will spend time with my family

I will let go of sad things

and embrace happiness

I will honor my parents wishes and eat my vegetables

and love my carefree attitude

I will stand up and share my sense of humor with the world

Writing About A Boy

Kids are cruel...

Never a truer sentence has been spoken. Beneath the small loveable outside, the majority of them are demons. They are always straightforward about exactly what they think. They have no filter or respect of anyone's feelings. I believe more children are bullied in middle and elementary school than in high school. While the lack of a filter can be cute, it can also be menacing. Little kids are so blunt and not afraid to speak the truth that a lot of times they can offend someone. Words like "fat," "stupid," or "idiot" are thrown around in elementary school without a care at the victim. It gets even worse in middle school when people get more creative with their insults. Middle school is probably one of the worst times in most people's life as far as trying to be "cool" and not excluded. My seventh grade brother is on the football team and truly believes this fact makes in ten thousand years cooler than anyone else in his grade... not to mention both of his high school brothers. Kids are also very sensitive so when some children insult others, it is very easy for them to get their feelings hurt. All in all, I believe that children are some of the meanest, inconsiderate people on this planet earth.

P.S. I was actually not bullied in my early years so don't get the wrong idea. I love kids.

If...

If you had to name the most embarrassing moment in your life, what would it be?

It is quite hard to pinpoint one moment that was especially embarrassing or more embarrassing than the rest. In fact, I make it my life's goal to cause embarrassing or awkward moments. It is very hard to make me feel embarrassed because I do such a good job myself. I hardly ever feel "embarrassed." One moment that I remember was once on a family vacation in Dallas. I just purchased a new pair of suspenders at the mall and my brother was embarrassed. He asked my mom why I always insist on embarrassing myself. I clarified with him that I don't embarrass myself because I don't get embarrassed. In reality, I haven’t really had any embarrassing moments but I have caused other people embarrassing moments.

A second embarrassing moment is when I took the wrong journal on the walk that we did and I wrote all of my creative writing stuff in a different notebook and had to put paperclip the pages into my journal. It made me very sad because I didn't want to rewrite all of my things into my other journal. My whole life is just one awkward moment after another.

Besides embarrassing moments my life is full of awkward moments. It seems the awkward and weird people are drawn to me because they think I want to be with my own kind. Once I was picking out a mother's day card for my mom and this creepy guy came up and asked me how old I was. I told him I was sixteen and he walked away and muttered "Oh..." It was an "oh" like "Oh... too bad that's not legal." It was rather awkward and frightening at the same time.

Food Memory

My favorite food memory is probably about Christmas, however not on the actual holiday. The best food of this time of year is not on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, or even the snacks on New Year's Eve. The best food is on one of those nights in early December when my whole family stays home and helps set up our decorations and the tree. We spend the morning doing the outdoor lights and some of the other Christmas decorating. The afternoon we spend making all kinds of delicious snacks and desserts. Many different kinds of brownies, cookies, puppy chow, chips,  pigs in a blanket, pickle roll ups (a bread and butter pickle rolled up in a piece of salami... It's better than it sounds), sometimes salsa or guacamole, BBQ wings, pizza rolls, and many other snacks. That night, after the food is prepared we get out the tree and all of the ornaments and we snack and decorate the tree together. It is a wonderful time that we spend together and I will cherish those memories forever. Since we have moved to Springfield and moved in with our grandparents, they have also joined my family in our tree decorating ceremony of food. Many more dishes were added to the list of pleasantly unhealthy snacks. On Christmas and Thanksgiving we have certain foods that we like to eat but the menu changes from year to year. Some of my favorites are sweetpotato casserole. It is full of marshmallows and carmal sauce, which is basically a warm up for dessert. Christmas is the only time of year I eat green beans, which are in a green bean casserole. On thanks giving I prefer ham over turkey, but I can eat turkey if it is moist enough. However, none of these traditional holiday foods can stand a chance against snack night while setting up the tree. For these reasons, my favorite memories of food during the holidays have to do with the actual preparing for the holidays and not on the holiday itself.
